Tatami train

Parked at the station today was a shiny pink train. When I got closer I saw that it had tatami (straw mat) floors and ground seats. There was a low table to each 4 seats and it looked like a party train more than anything.

Apparently there is a whole range of these luxury trains. They are aptly called Joyful trains.

This is a JR East one with 6 cars. It has a max speed of 120km/hr.
Joyful trains are almost exclusively used for tourist outings and special events like corporate trips.
