School spirit

If you were wondering what the inside of a Japanese high school looks like, this is your chance to catch a peek.

This video was released at graduation as a farewell to our third graders. The whole school took part and it was shot at various locations on Tone Vocational High School grounds. The theme song is ‘Fortune cookie’ by AKB48, a mega-popular girl band. I don’t advocate AKB, but their song did make this project extra fun.

Check out all the awesome things my adorable students do from kendo and wrestling to farming, mechanics, carpentry, engineering and even soba (buckwheat noodle) making.

If you are trying to spot me amongst all the kids and teachers, wait until you see the cows and then start looking. Breaking it down with the other English teachers about two and a half minutes in. Enjoy!

  1. Just to boast some more, this year one of my students got first place in the Japan high school soba making competition, and another came third. So proud of them!
