Exotic fruit

One of the joys of teaching at an agricultural school is that the students always have yummy, fresh produce to sell. Today I bought “akebi”. I’d never heard of it before in my life. The mysterious fruit looks totally prehistoric. Its spongy skin is split open to reveal the edible green sack that you pull out.

My kids assured me it’s sweet and delicious, and the dictionary calls it chocolate-vine so I’m hopeful. Working up the courage to try it…
